What is the best thing that I love about my work?

What I enjoy most in my work is the fact that I get to work with my own purest form of expression. I bring out the best of me and try to do so for the people I work for or work with.

What is my idea of perfect happiness?

This idea of perfect happiness is one I have only recently started to think about, but for now; a beach, a beach house and lots of writing equipment would be very nice. I have a simple and old soul.

What is my greatest fear?

I think I have lived through my greatest fears, now I have learned that I fear myself mostly because I know what power lies within. It can create success but also destruction. ‘Planned destruction’s’ are the worst when you have only yourself to blame for it.

What is the trait that I most deplore in myself?

I most deplore ‘Procrastinating’ I sometimes get stuck in a wondrous world of imagination and creativity that it sometimes holds me back in actually getting things done because I keep trying to perfect the idea before it even leaves my head.

What is my greatest extravagance?

My greatest extravagance? I dare say I have none. I am not a trend follower nor setter. I do not enjoy late nights out with drinks and the likes included. I am the homey type person that enjoys the comforts of my own surroundings, simply studying and watching documentaries.

On what occasion would I lie?

I would lie in an occasion where I knew that distorting the truth would hurt somebody else less. I might not get everything off my chest but at least I won’t have to live with the guilt of having hurt someone when it could have been prevented.

What is the influence of role models, in my work and in my life?

Role models to me have always been of external influence. I copied from people that were closest to me and I did the exact opposite in order to stay ‘good’. Funny thing it was Oprah Winfrey for me. She was the first black woman I could envision myself being. Lessons from home I made sure to forget.

What is the thing that I dislike the most in my work?

The thing I dislike most is having to also do the administration part of having a business. Those chores really take the fun out of things but an invoice paid is never a harmful thing.

When and where was I the happiest, in my work?

I love the combination of being able to do everything in my area of business. Being aware of this fact is what brings out the happiness. I do several jobs, I teach in Spoken word, I perform my own poems on events and I am a member of the Poetry Circle 010, this group gave me an extra life. The teachings give my life meaning. The performances are for pure fun and getting my voice heard.

If I could, what would I change about myself?

If I could change something about myself? I know I can change about everything about myself right now that bothers me. The changes are small to the outside but very significant to me. Right now I just want to eat healthier, the changes will follow, but for now I am quite content about my person.

What is my greatest achievement in work?

The greatest achievement has yet to introduce itself to me. Right now I am on a path that will ensure I will have several. Acknowledging my pure skills and raw talent and to put that to use was the first achievement but it will surely not be my last.

What is my most inspirational location, in my city?

The most inspirational location in my city must be in my head, because in there I can make my city even bigger and better however I so please. My mind is a beautiful place to roam around in.

What is my favorite place to eat and drink, in my city?

My favorite place to eat and drink is in my own home, a place where I prepare my foods with love and attention and can eat only things I trust and enjoy and where I can serve a plate to those that are closest to me.

Who is my greatest fan, sponsor, partner in crime?

My greatest fan, sponsor, partner in crime? Well at the moment I am not engaged in a relationship and also I have no children. I think it is Aida R. , one of my closest friends although she calls me ‘Auntie Neusa’, she really motivates me when I am down. Last week she told me that in her eyes I have already made it and because of her, I will make sure I keep this promise.

Whom would I like to work with in the future?

There are probably a couple of people I could envision myself working with. I don’t want to name names so not to jinx it. For now I am focused on getting my part of the work done before I can even dream of having upscale collaborations.

What project, in the nearby future, am I looking forward to work on?

I have recently started up with an organization that is going to make it possible for me to teach more classes in schools where poetry is very much so missing in the Dutch schools. I am really looking forward to that. Also finishing my book, an autobiographical volume of me.
